SO with that being said If you are a student and new on your journey, please remember to have FUN!! This is a job field that can pull you in so many directions and you'll get lost quick!!

Theory is very IMPORTANT for many reason but the basic is the best and covers them all it is literally the FOUNDATION. It seems like a lot but the key with theory is understanding the building blocks.

Understanding the anatomy(hair, skin, nails, & human body), their functions and operations. knowing THE PRODUCTS THEIR FUNCTIONS!! These things seem like not a bid deal but they are!!

This Industry is about Image!! TAKE PICTURE ALL THROUGH BEAUTY SCHOOL! I DON'T CARE IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT! TAKE IT! 3 Reasons...

1. you track your progress.. it's a self-esteem booster..you need it on hard days.. you need it!! suck it up!! At the end you'll be really glad you did because this shows art, heart, passion, and drive!! Everything you need to go far!! Track ....

2. Make and Build a Portfolio OF YOUR BEST both digital and PHSYICAL!! If you won awards put them in. Letters of Recommendations... You can Ask for one!!!! (HINT! HINT)----YES THEY CAN MATTER!! NOT so much in I can get you a job but more like they are a good student, good worker, paid attention kind of thing. It looks good in the "REAL wORLD"..LOL

3. It goes both ways ...As we build we FINE TUNE!! Notice I said, "FINE TUNE" NOT "destroy", "crumble", or "incinerate"? it's because it's called critique. We all see the "I should have", "I wish" Parts that's good That you see them!! Now Do it with the fix!! It's about building your trade. Yes we ALL screw up!! So the trick is to not repeat!! It's Not always technique..some times it's other Factors in play..Listen to your client, listen to the hair, check your basic before deep dive some times we over complicate the simplist of situations from not asking questions!! Ask!!

Client Consultations!! The most Ignored part of the whole service!!

Communication!!.....yes that means Talking!!!

Ok! Yes, I my name is Gabby!!! However, Talking is very important to in this industry and one of the most overlooked or ignored. Not just to figure out what the client wants but how to go about learning them as well. Their lives, job, lifestyle, hair routines that they're WILLING to do. What they have at home (products, tools ....) What can they support at home with what they have till, or do they need to go buy additional products? These are questions you need to find out. Talking to them to get them to feel more comfortable with you and learn their securities and play zones. This industry is about Talent, Rights? Can I ask you who cares how well you do highlights if that is not what they are asking for?.. Kind of makes it a moot point for you to talk color is they are wanting a new cut... Listening to not just what they're, but as well as to what they are saying and trying to say. Pictures are good reference and aid in color, description. HOW EVER CLARIFYING IS USUALLY ASSUMED NOT CLEARED!!

Pleasing the customer IS THE ABSOLUTE GOAL!! But also getting them to not only like their hair but maintain it at home in between services and happy is the key.

Talking is your tool to gather information. It might sound weird however communication is not just verbal!! Watch their body langue they look uncomfortable pause ask?.. could be Past Hair Trama not you (Not everything is about your or your talents, they just met you!! Calm down. We over think it's part of what we do. But just ease them but just simply clarify then more to find out need information that is required. Most Clients appreciate it. They have the same feeling with doctors and meds and issues. It eases their mind as time goes on with not feeling alone in issues and also not having to explain everything. Plus, your loaded with info to help them appropriately as much as possible. Also, it builds TrusT (kind of a BIGGIE!) and helps them feel you care beyond them like just a client!!
